MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Support
SUBJECT : Organization of Former Fmployees
of CIA
1. This Office has reviewed the proposal of
25X1A9a to establish an organization of former employees of CIA. No
insurmountable security problems are apparent, however, it is
believed that certain security principles are required. These are
set forth below:
a. Derogatory information or its existence con-
cerning former employees in the files of the
Agency will not be furnished to the proposed
organization by the Office of Security.
b. Guidance to former employees regarding their
membership in the organization and listing in
the directory could be furnished upon request
by the Central Cover Staff/DDP.
2. From an overall policy standpoint, this Office questions
whether the benefits to CIA outweigh the potential disadvantages of
an ex-employees organization, particularly the hazard of circulating
a roster of former employees.
