This memorandum is for information only. 2. The activities of the Office of Security during the week 19-23 July 1976 were highlighted.by the fol- lowing items: a. Security support was afforded on the following occasions: an appearance of the DDCI and the Legislative Counsel on 22 July before the Intelligence Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee; and a 22 July appearance of the LOCI and the Legislative Counsel before Senators Sparkman and Case, ranking members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. b. On 19 July, the first chapter of a book authored by the former DCI, Mr. Colby, was received in the Office of Security and disseminated to appropriate components for comment. c. During the reporting period, representatives of this Office coordinated with Department of State security personnel regarding the loss of sensitive compartmented material by a Department of State officer in Europe. d. Effective 23 July, a major subcompartment of Sensitive Compartmented Information was disestablished. This was a cooperative action with COMIR.E;X, date, a new subcompartment was activated afterrnatpr sane coordination with COMIREX and OD1~E. During the week, approximately 100 professional and 50 clerical hours were devoted to a review of Office files to locate information bearing on the "ITT/Chile" affair. The search, conducted for the benefit of the Department of Justice, resulted in the location of relatively few pertinent documents. f. Representatives of the Office of Security presented lectures on Woman's Safety to employees of and Office of Finance on 20, 21, and 22 July.
