Approved For Release 2/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823R0006002p012-1 23 January 1972 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: DD/P Security Officer Briefing for Security Officer Careerists to be Assigned Overseas 1. At a recent meeting of the Long-Range Planning Group and the Management Advisory Group, the suggestion was made that OS personnel destined for overseas assignment receive briefings and possibly spend some time with the appropriate DD/P Area Security Officer before departure. 2. Upon examination of the dispersal of our Security Officers overseas and the area divisions having full-time Security Officers, it was determined that the only area division concerned would be FE. DD/P area divisions concerned with other areas of the world where full-time Security .Officers are stationed do not have Security Officers at Headquarters. 3. I talked to Security Officer, FE Division, about this suggestion. He stated that he feels that OS careerist s destined for overseas assignment would certainly gain by having an opportunity to be briefed by him and to read some of the current cable traffic in FE files. In view of the large number of Security Officers destined for the FE area, it was concluded that if all of them were briefed by him the effort would be quite burdensome. Together we agreed that it would be practical from standpoint and beneficial to the careerists involved if briefings would be given to those destined to serve in the following positions: Approved For Release 2000/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823R000600260012-1 Approved For Release 209/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823R000600264W2-1 a, Chief, Regional Security Office, b.
