Approved For Release-2000/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823iW00600260013-0 22 January 1973 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Investigative Training for OS Careerists Not Assigned to Field Investigative Duties 1. During a joint meeting of the Long-Range Planning Group and the Management Advisory Group held on 18 January 1973, the advisability of expanded attendance at the OS Special Agents Training Course was discussed. The next running of this course will be during the spring of 1973. There was a final consensus among the group that it would be beneficial both to the careers of certain persons not performing investigative duties and to the Office of Security as a whole if certain careerists were given the opportunity of attending this course. It was felt that young careerists engaged in personnel security or covert security approval duties would receive practical information which would be beneficial to them. Such considerations would be limited, of course, to careerists who have not had investi- gative experience. 2. On 19 January 1973, the feasibility of enlarging the Special AgentsTraining Course was discussed with the Chief and Deputy Chief of A&TS and the Chief, Training Branch, A&TS. It was determined that enlarging the course over its present anticipated size would not be a problem; that five additional students could be added without any difficulty. 3. It was agreed that the Training Branch will circularize OS careerists not assigned to investigative duties in order to determine who would be interested in attending. The reasons for the requested attendance will be set forth by each applicant. If more than five applications are Approved For Release 2000/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823R000600260013-0 Approved For Release-2000/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823900600260013-0 received, the Career Board will consider them for purposes of selection. If less than five are received, final approval authority will be delegated to the appropriate Deputy Director or Staff Chief concerned. :Deputy Director of Security cc: Secretary, Long-Range Planning Group and Management Advisory Group 25X1A Approved For Release 2000/09/02 : CIA-RDP83B00823R000600260013-0
