SUBJECT: Electronic Countermeasures
Apparently, your staff has been asked to
have you reread this memorandum before your
meeting tomorrow with If
the subject comes up, which now understand
is likely, you can say that we appreciate STAP's
interest and are looking into what we agree is
an important problem. I am not sure that STAP's
recommendation for proceeding, contained in
paragraph 3, is exactly what we will do. But,
I am pleased that the Panel apparently took to
heart your suggestion that their studies contain
specific recommendations. This subject is one
on a list o items that I will be discussing
with shortly. I need to determine if
there is more information that STAP can usefully
provide before we ask individual committee
chairmen to take on the issue.
