SUBJECT Visit of U.S. Ambassador-Designate to Ecuador
Samuel Friedlander Hart
1. This memorandum is to confirm your appointment at 1700
hours on 10 December 1982 with U.S. Ambassador-Designate to
Ecuador, Samuel F. Hart. Mr. HartJalso has an appointment with-
the DDCI at 1515 hours on 10 December 1982 and the DDO at 1640
hours on 10 December 1982. The Ambassador-Designate will
partici in a round table discussion chaired by-Assistant NIO
for LA, Selected representatives from the DDI 25x1
and LA Division will also participate.
2. Background: Samuel F. Hart is expected to be sworn in as
Ambassador to Ecuador on 14 December 1982. He has served as
Director of the Office of Andean Affairs, Department of State from-
1980 to the present. Mr. Hart has had previous assignments to
Israel, Chile, Costa Rica and Kuala Lumpur. He is the recipient
of the William R. Rivkin Award, Meritorious Service Award and
Superior Honor Award.
