MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Central Intelligence

SUBJECT: Referral to FBI of Complaint from the Mayor of Glen
Cove, New York
1. Action Requested: Sign the attached letter referring this complaint
to the FBI.
2. Background: Mayor Alan M. Parente, Glen Cove, New York, has written
to protest the tax-exempt status of Killenworth, the Soviet estate in Glen
Cove. Parente cites an article in Newsday which reported that Killenworth is
a "center for spy activity."
3. Staff Position: In consulting both OGC and the FBI, both agree this
matter should be forwarded to the FBI for handling.
4. Recommendation: Sign the attached letter.
