The Deputy Director of Central Intelligence
March 26, 1982
Dr. Albert D. Wheelon
Senior Vice President and Group President
Space and Communications Group
Post Office Box 92919
Los Angeles, California 90009
Continuing development of new space systems and technologies has led
me to believe that the organizations which have a major interest in the
future of foreign or domestic space activities would profit from a
stimulating interchange of information and ideas. As a step in that
direction, Dr. Richard DeLauer, Dr. Hans Mark, Dr. George A. Keyworth
and I are sponsoring a colloquium to discuss possible military,
intelligence, and civil missions in space during the next 20 years by
examining new systems concepts and technologies. F--]
The other sponsors and I believe that your participation could make
a very valuable contribution to the colloquium, and we invite you to be
moderator of the session on Future Intelligence Missions in Space, and to
participate in the general discussion throughout the colloquium. Only a
few persons are being invited to present papers and each will be asked to
speak for about an hour so that ample time can be allotted for discussion.
The colloquium will be held on 3 and 4 June 1982 at CIA Headquarters.
Participants will be limited to 50 of the most knowledgeable persons
involved in future space systems and technologies including those who will
present papers. Thdiscussions will be at the "SI/TK/BYECOM" level of
classification.
We encourage you to accept our invitation to this important colloquium
on the future in s ace. We will provide complete details about arrangements
at a later date.
Sincerely,
B.R. INMAN 25X1
