Exhibit IV
CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY
WASHINGTON. D.C. 20505
0 6 MAY 1981
Your letter of 24 April 1981 was received on 27 April
1981.
While that letter expressed your reasons for maintaining
that certain information requested by you under the Freedom of
Information Act should be made available to you if it exists
within this Agency's files, and also established a limitation
on certain types of information sought, we must inform you that
the original determination as set forth in our 13 February 1981
response remains unchanged. Accordingly, your letter has been
construed as an appeal of those determinations, and arrange-
ments will be made for consideration of that appeal by the
Information Review Committee.
As you may be aware, we have a backlog of almost 300
appeals. In order to process these appeals in the most equi-
table manner possible, we have adopted the policy of handling
the appeals on a first-received, first-out basis. Please be
assured, however, that your appeal will be processed as quickly
as possible. You will be advised on the outcome as soon as our
processing has been completed.
Sincerely,
ohn E. 3acon
