SUBJECT: Independent Study of Intelligence at NATO Headquarters
1. I found this NATO study very enlightening. I would like to have it
supplemented by understanding the channels and the extent of. intelligence
support which are now operating from the Pentagon and also need to know
something about the various headquarters and staffs which are mentioned in
this study -- CORE, SHAPE, NATO HQ, Intelligence Military Staff, Military
Committee, North Atlantic Council, ACE Committee.
2. It will be helpful to see the following NATO documents mentioned
in this study:
a. MC 166/4, dtd. 14 March 1980, reflecting I&W indicator.
b. Special set of indicators developed at SHAPE'.for the
Polish problem...
c. MC 14/3 -- intelligence on I&W directive.
d. MC 255'-- Significance to NATO of Soviet Policy and
