Approved For Release 2006/09/07: CIA-RDP83M00914R002000120035-3 Dr. Charles E. Bishop Office of the President University of Houston System 4600 Gulf Freeway, Suite 500 Houston, Texas 77023 Dear Dr. Bishop: I would like to invite you to visit the Central Intelligence Agency's Headquarters in Langley, Virginia, on 16 September 1982. As part of the Agency's ongoing program of briefing university presidents on the mission, functions, and role of the CIA, my senior officers will brief you and a small number of your colleagues. Moreover, the date falls within National Hispanic Heritage Week, and you represent a school with a large Hispanic student popu- lation. From that aspect, we will also brief you on our efforts to increase our Hispanic population in the Agency. I am sure that this will provide the ideal arena for you to find answers to any questions that you might have regarding our work, the Agency, and its mission. I plan to join you at lunch, and I will look forward to receiving your comments and suggestions on how we might better accomplish the Agency's mission of providing our nation's leaders with the best possible intelligence. I has already been in touch with a member of your staff, and she wi be available to discuss details in connec- tion with your visit, if you can accept this invitation. Sincerely, Central Intelligence Agency /S/ John N. XcP5ah0V John N. McMahon Deputy Director of Central Intelligence DCI/OEEO (19 Aug 82) Distribution;- Orig - Addressee 1 - Executive Registry 1 - OEEO
