Approved For Release 2007/10/20: CIA-RDP83M00914R002700210030-1 CCX~, 8z _1~~ s~ NATIONAL CONSERVATIVE FOUNDATION SUITE 502 ? 1500 WILSON BOULEVARD ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA 22209 Mr. William Casey Director of Central Intelligence Washington, D.C. 20505 Dear Mr. Casey: August 11, 1982 The National Conservative Foundation is beginning the second season of its nationally syndicated television series entitled American Forum. Network affiliates and major independent stations in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Seattle are broadcasting the program. In fact, American Forum reaches more than 30% of the homes in the United States and our marketing efforts indicate that we will be expanding even further. We would be delighted to have you appear on American Forum as a featured guest. Each American Forum program has a number of segments: a debate between well-known proponents of conservative and liberal points-of-view, an opportunity for the viewers to call in their opinions, and commentary on current affairs. The centerpiece of each show is a ten-to-fifteen minute discussion with a special guest. We would like you to appear in this interview segment. We've designed the discussion to be informal so that your ideas can be discussed candidly, and so that our large viewing audience can easily understand your views on topics unfiltered by network commentators. Americans normally lack an opportunity to hear vital issues discussed without questionable analysis being performed by media pundits. It is high time that citizens have the chance to hear their leaders without the all to frequent antagonism projected by a hostile press. American Forum counters most of the misinformation of this sort by providing its audience with a "clear channel". Approved For Release 2007/10/20: CIA-RDP83M00914R002700210030-1 Approved For Release 2007/10/20: CIA-RDP83M00914R002700210030-1 Mr. William Casey August 11, 1982 Your appearance on American Forum will help Americans gain new insight and perspective on important problems, as well as opportunities, facing our country today. It will also help restore a balance to the information being telecast to those who must ultimately bear the cost of decisions made on important policy: The American People. Some of our other featured guests have included James A. Baker, White House Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Interior James G. Watt, Republican National Committee Chairman Richard Richards and Congressman Jack Kemp. I know that your schedule is quite busy and hope that one of the following dates will be acceptable: September 13, 20, 22, and 27; October 4, 11, 18 and 25; November 3, 8, 15, 22 and 29. From our point-of-view the earlier dates are better, but I have included all available times in the hope that our two schedules will mesh. The taping schedule allows for some degree of flexibility: any time between 9:30am and 11:30am. The studios are located at Tele-Color Productions in Alexandria, Virginia, and are approximately fifteen minutes from downtown Washington. We will provide directions to the facility when an actual date is set. Our experience indicates that you will not have to spend much more than forty-five minutes at Telecolor. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Sincerely, Approved For Release 2007/10/20: CIA-RDP83M00914R002700210030-1
