DCI/DDCI Assigned Tasks 1. Six NIOs, L.Jof SOVA/DDI, and I accompanied the DCI to the Hill on 27 January for a first Congressional Worldwide Briefing session -- with the House Armed Services Committee -- where we were afforded an excellent chance to observe the DCI at work. 2. Hans Heymann is working up a sanitized version of the draft SNIE on "yellow rain." It should be ready for submission to the NFIB principals at next Tuesday's meeting. 3. I am attending SIG meetings today on economic sanctions vis-a-vis Poland and military aid to Somalia. II. Other Activities 4. I met with Hans Mark, Deputy Director of NASA, to discuss the Soviet space program, particularly their potential military applications of manned spacecraft technologies. 5. Other meetings included ones I had with Andy Marshall and Sey Weiss for discussions on the future of NATO and ith D E R alysts to talk about possible future estimative papers on 6. prepared a briefing book in preparation for next week's US visit of President Mubarak and was involved in the preparation of Libyan Working Papers for the Libyan Working Group and NSC meeting on 4 February. Dale Bumpers andi on 25X1 trends in Central America, and at State's request, agreed with the DCI's permissio to summarize 25X1 8. NIO-at-Large Hans Heymann joined the DDCI in briefing the President's Commission on Executive Exchange on 26 January. III. Future Activities 9. In addition to the "yellow rain" SNIE, the proposed estimates production program for the balance of 1982 and the revised version of the Memo to Holders on nuclear terrorism are on the NFIB meeting agenda for 2 February. Other papers close to the final approval stage include the draft SNIE on Kampuchea and the draft NIE on the Indian Ocean Islands. 10.
