SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report, 28 June - 2 July 1982
DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks
ALA produced a written briefing on Honduras: Economic Overview, at the request
of the DCI.
EURA prepared a typescript for the DCI on West European reactions and options
concerning the Soviet pipeline.
EURA is preparing to brief DDCI on Tuesday, 6 July on the sanctions issue.
OGI and OSWR prepared a paper for the DCI on The Implications of the Falklands
and Lebanon Crises on Global High-Technology Arms Transfers.
OGI prepared a briefing package for the DCI for his 14 July testimony before the
SSCI. The Committee has asked for testimony from the heads of a I I Agencies involved in
the collection and anlaysis of drug intelligence.
OSWR and OGC are drafting a Memorandum of Understanding between CIA and the
Department of Commerce to share information collected by Commerce under a provision
of the Export Administration Act.
Of Special Interest This Week
ALA typescript memoranda, responding to a set of questions from Deputy Assistant
Secretary Crocker on the situation in Angola, were delivered to the State Department, I
July.
ALA participated in a roundtable discussion sponsored by Georgetown University's
Center for Strategic and International Studies which featured President Toure of Guinea.

EURA participated in discussions with several NIOs and outside consultants on
economic prospects in the I 980s and their implications for Atlantic relations in
preparation for NIE 20-2-82 "Atlantic Bridge."

OEA briefed an OMB working group coinparing US and Japanese industrial policies.
OEA drafted and cabled a typescript for use by the US Mission at the UN as
background for the July meeting on Kampuchea.
OSWR briefed the SSCI on chemical warfare use.
All DDI production offices contributed a package of briefing materials for
Secretary of State Designate Shultz.
