DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks NESA prepared talking points for the DCI on the Israel-Lebanon situation. OEA prepared a memorandum on the sale of sophisticated digital switching manufacturing technology to China for the DCI. OGI completed the DCI-requested project on Soviet presence in the Third World. At the DCI's request, OGI prepared a special map and graphics package on forced OSWR has arranged a satellite survivability briefing for the DCI by At the request of the DDI, OSWR will brief the DCI on results to date of the DDI Technology Transfer Task Force. OSWR provided the DCI with talking points and a background paper on battlefield lasers for a Presidential briefing. Of Special Interest This Week ALA prepared a briefing package for Vice President Bush's upcoming visit to Africa. An ALA analyst accompanied the NIO for Economics to brief Martin Feldstein, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, on Brazil's economic prospects. 25X1 25X1 NESA analysts briefed the president and vice president of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) on Lebanon's military, political, and economic situation. NESA analysts met with Dr. Peter Clausen, Woodrow Wilson Center for International Affairs, to discuss nuclear proliferation issues and with University of Texas, to discuss India's political problems. 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2007/03/03 CIA-RDP83MO0914R002900050060-4 OEA held a conference on East Asia affairs to dKaw upon academic expertise. OEA briefed the HPSCI on insurgency in the Philippines. OGI - with contributions from EURA and ALA - put together the first of a biweekly series of situation reports on key international financial. developments. The report goes to a select group of policymakers. OGI received a cable from UN Ambassador Kirkpatrick thanking them for the responses to her frequent questions and for analytical support to the Mission. OGI personnel participated in a working-level inte igence conference at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on a estinian terrorism. OSWR participated in briefings on Soviet high energy laser developments and LASINT collection to members of OMB, HPSCI, and the SSCI. OSWR met with I Ito discuss technology transfer to China and the development of scientific research in the PRC. Looking Ahead EURA is hosting a conference on Aegean issues this weekend with government and academic participation. Several OEA analysts will attend a Korea-US Order of Battle conference at the Pentagon next week. OSWR will brief Ambassador Walters on Pakistan's nuclear weapon program.
