1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: THE TARANTUL GUIDED MISSILE PATROL
COMBATANT PGG AT KHABAROVSK SHIPYARD USSURI SOUTH 876 IS
PROBABLY A TARANTUL-I.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: THIS UNIT WAS FIRST OBSERVED ONI IAT 25X1
THE FITTING-OUT QUAY. REFINED MENSURATION AND THE LOCATION OF
THE MISSILE TUBE AREA IN RELATION TO THE DECKHOUSE, INDICATE
THAT THIS UNIT IS PROBABLY A TARANTUL-I PGG ARMED WITH THE
STANDARD SS-N-2 ANTISHIP CRUISE MISSILE RATHER THAN A
TARANTUL-II PGG ARMED WITH THE SS-NX-22 ANTISHIP CRUISE
MISSILE. THIS IS THE FIRST UNIT OF THIS CLASS TO BE PRODUCED
IN THE SOVIET PACIFIC FLEET AREA.
