(S/WN) This report provides imagery-derived information on Sary-Shagan Missile Complex SAM Training Facility D19-10 obtained between Au ust 1979 and August 1982. Facility D19-10 is part of Launch Complex E, Sary-Shagan Missile Test Center Launch Complex E is used for crew training 25X1 3. (S/WN) Launch Complex E (Figure 1), of which Facility D19-10 is a part, is the crew training complex for strategic SAM systems, including the SA-2, SA-3, SA-5, and most recently, the SA-10. The complex, 50 nautical miles southwest of the Sary-Shagan Operations Support Base 25X1 consists of seven SA-2 sites, five SA-3 sites, one SA-5 complex, one SA-10 complex (converted from an SA- 5), three radar facilities, a static display and air warning site, a bivouac area, atraining/support facility, and a dirt airfield. 4. (S/WN) Facility D19-10 originally was designated Sary-Shagan Missile Complex SAM Training Facility D19-5 and was athree-site SA-5 launch complex used for crew training. Between late 1979 and late 1981, the complex was converted in stages to an SA-10 complex. Accordingly; the facility name has been changed to Sary-Shagan Missile Complex SAM Training Facility D19-10. 5. (S/WN) Launch site B of Facility D19-10 (Figure 2) was converted to an SA-10 site between August and December 1979,E and SA-10 missile crews trained there between October and December 1979. During 1980 and most of 1981, site B was inactive, while SA-5 crew training continued at launch sites A and C. Betwee the launch revetments at site B were further modified, 25X1 and SA-5 launch site C was converted to an SA-10 site (Figure 3). Launch site A was not converted, but all SA-5 missile equipment at the site had been removed. During the same time period, all SA-5 missile radars and equipment were removed from the complex tracking and guidance area and replaced by an SH-EL-03 acquisition radar. On SA-10 missile equipment was deployed in the new 25X1 revetments at sites B and C. Since then, SA-10 training has been continuing at these sites.
