SUBJECT : Meeting with Senator Leahy
Further to our conversation of several
weeks ago, I had breakfast with Senator Leahy
this morning at his invitation. He asked about
current relations with China, and I provided
him with a rundown of recent field reporting
analytical work. Senator Leahy may make another
trip to China with the Agriculture Committee
this fall. He appeared genuinely optimistic
about the health of CIA, reserving only on the
issue of covert action. Since we have little
going on in East Asia, we did not discuss
any specific programs.
Our wives-being acquainted (from China),
we agreed to a family dinner in May or June.
