SUBJECT: "Wisemen's Group" Report on Japan
The attached report on US-Japan economic
and trade problems is clear, balanced and full
of useful information. The Wisemen's Group
consists on the US side of Robert Ingersoll,
(an economics professor at Yale
who may do some research on Japan for us),
Edson Spencer, Chairman of Honeywell, Inc.,
and A.W. Clausen. The Japanese side consists
of Nobukiko Ushiba, former State Minister for
External Economic Affairs, Akio Morita, Chairman
of Sony, Kiichi Saeki, Chairman of Nomura
Research Institute, Isamu Yamashita, Chairman
of Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Company,
and Shuzo Muramoto, President of the Dai-Ichi
Kangyo Bank.
I suggest you read the executive summary
(clipped) of nine pages and then decide whether
additional portions are of value to you.
