Dear Mr. Levin,
This is to follow-up on our recent telephone conversation.
On Friday, May 7, 1982 we will hold the thirteenth in our series of
Harvard-East Asia conferences. The topic will be the emerging role
in East Asia of Taiwan and South Korea, and we cordially invite you to
address the meeting. The audience will consist primarily of senior
corporate executives, and the meeting format is designed to encourage
extensive discussion among and between the speakers and the audience.
The conference proceedings are taped. The verbatim record is
supplemented by notes taken by rapporteurs. Based on these, a summary
of the discussions is prepared in draft form and sent to each speaker
for comments and revisions. The revised versions are then compiled
into a Summary Proceedings, and distributed only to those who attended
the conference. over the course of our conference series a government
official has on rare occasions asked that his remarks be off the record.
We naturally would like the conference record to-be complete. But we
also realize that some of our speakers do operate within institutional
constraints, and we of course will respect them.
The conference will be held on the Harvard University campus,
and we will cover your travel expenses.
