SUBJECT : Proposed East Asia Warning Meeting
The 17 November warning meeting will address the following items.
I. Warning -- No developments in East Asia have been suggested for
discussion under this heading.
II. Regional Developments
a. State and CIA will discuss Sino-Soviet relations.
b. CIA will describe Thai-Kampuchean border dry season possible
military moves.
c. DIA may report on Secretary Weinberger's trip to East Asia
d. NIO/EA will report on his trip to East Asia.
III. Plans for Interagency Work -- The status of ongoing projects will be
reviewed and consideration given suggestions for initiating new items.
IV. Regional Policy Issues -- All participants are encouraged to raise
subject in this area.
V. Collection Implications
a. The glacial state of Sino-Soviet relations is slowly moving.
How well informed are we to anticipate and evaluate these developments?
b. What differences, if any, should we expect in intelligence
reaching us this year about Thai-Kampuchea border activities, as contrasted
with'past years?
