attended the first portion of the meeting, noted that discussions would be off
the record and informal. Dalso referred to John Stein's testimony be1
the same Committee last spring.
2. Since the Committee does not retain or handle classified material, we
kept the discussions to generalities.
-- In collection and analysis, CIA is focused on strategic narcotics
intelligence, meaning crop production, host government attitudes, and
financial flows.
-- Coordination in the Intelligence Community is improving, and agencies
like DIA and NSA are doing more.
3. The discussion was very friendly. Carpentier may request a future
briefing on the outlook for corp production and world trafficking routes.
