I. DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks
9 April 1982
C/NIC attended a SIG meeting on Law of the Sea on 5 April that
resulted in new instructions for the US negotiating team at the
talks.
Under the chairmanship of the Acting NIO/Western Europe, a
fast-track SNIE on the Falklands crisis was drafted by DDI and
NIC officers yesterday and coordinated by NFIB representatives
today.
-- NIC officers attended interagency meetings today on NSSD 4-82
(Near East and South Asia).
Yesterday C/NIC and Acting NI0/USSR-EE initiated a series of
interagency intelligence seminars on contemporary Soviet
society with a talk on the effects of alcoholism
producing the conclusion that a more ambitious in a igence
research program should be tackled.
C/NIC attended an internal CIA meeting to review the Soviet
missile threat from Cuba and an informal session with NIC and
SE(RFT

-- NI0/EA talked with Yale economists yesterday about
protectionism in the Japanese service sector. He also spoke
earlier in the week with Lionel Olmer to seek his advice on the
US-Japan SNIE being prepared as part of the NSSD 6-82 exercise.
