As I mentioned to you a few days ago, the subject history was going through the full editorial review by the Historical Staff. That review has been completed, and I am returning the paper for the suggested revisions and retyping. 2. In addition to the specific questions which have been noted directly on the copy, Deputy Chief, CIA Historical Staff made the o owing and editing " On balance this history gives too much attention to. who was sent where and too little attention to the problems encountered in the field and the kinds of service performed there. Some suggested topics that would benefit from expansion include: 1. The kinds of operational problems on which medical support was required and how these problems were handled. 2. How did the Regional Medical Officers cope with the problem of serving a very large area? 3. What kinds of service did the RMO's provide to Agency personnel in the field? When did the RMO's supplement medical aid from the individual's cover organization? 4. Above topics should be considered in the light of changing medical requirements in the field, both directly operational and support required by Agency personnel. " 25X1 3. In addition to suggestions and to the 25:0 items noted on the copy, the history of the Field Support Staff also will require a list of sources and a chronology (of persons and events). These will be appendixes to the report. If you like, I'm willing to look at your revisions in rough form--by so doing it might be possible to avoid retyping another working draft of the history. 5. Although' the recommended revisions will require some effort, there is no question: that this paper provides a good base from which to work. If you have questions, please feel free to call me.
