SUBJECT . ORE Production Program for the Quarter Beginning
1 July 1947,
REFERENCE . Memorandum from Deputy Director to Chief, ICAPS
and Assistant Director, ORE, dated 25 March 1947
1. In compliance with the reference above, there is
submitted herewith an ORE Production Program for the quarter beginning
1 July 1947. ,
2. In preparing the subject program it has been.thought;
desirable in the interest of clarity to restate in detail our
conception of the ORE mission as it applies to the production and
presentation of national intelligence.
3. It will be noted, therefore, that the first three paragraphs
of the attachment deal with basic matters of mission and a general
plan for accomplishing this mission. In this part of the attachment
.one hitherto over-looked item has been added in that under CIG Staff
Intelligence it is contemplated that an effort will be made to make
an estimate of the World Situation with the idea that such an overall
estimate should be useful in bringing into proper perspective the
various area situations and aligning them in such a manner to show
their correlation to the whole and their significance to the national
security of the U.S.
4. Paragraph it is a detailed schedule of intelligence
production and presentation for the quarter commencing 1 July 1947.
5. In view of the basic nature of this subject to the
operation of ORE, an indication of the Director's action on this
topic would be appreciated at an early date.
