1. The revised organization and functional charts of CIA
now king published, to become effective 1 January 19119, omit
the Fcientifi.c Branch of the Office of Fie ports and Estimates,
and establish a separate Office of Z cientif c Intelligence under
an Assistant Director. j ias been designated
Assistant Director for ;, en z is intelligence.
2. It is desired that the Office of Reports and Estimates
continue to provide necessary administrative and operational
support to the new Office of Scientific Intelligence during
its is eriud of initial organization until such time as it is
administratively capable of separate operation. It is anticipated
that complete separation will be effected during the month of
January 1949.
