MEMORANDUM FOR THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR:
Subject: Revision of SWNCC 304/6.
a. SWNCC 304/6 (copy attached) dated 30 September 1947 has
been circulated for consideration by SANACC. It has not yet been
approved by that Committee*
be Prior to final approval the State Department member of the
SANACL Subcommittee on psychological warfare has proposed that the
second sentence of paragraph 9, Appendix A of the paper read as fol-
lows: "Therefore the Central Intelligence Agency will coordinate the
efforts of departmental intelligence agencies which prepare the in-
telligence directly required for planning and in addition supply the
overall National intelligence for that purpose."
c. The CIA member of the SANACC Subcommittee on psychological
warfare proposes that the sentence read as follows: "Therefore the
Central Intelligence Agency will coordinate the intelligence efforts
of the departments and agencies of the Government which prepare the
intelligence directly required for planning and in addition supply
the overall National intelligence for that purpose, It is the only
Governmental agency so qualified to give this support and is soc-
ional organized at the present time. (changes or additions under-
lined).
2. RECOMMENDATION:
That the CIA proposal be approved for informal transmittal to
the Department of State.
