ITEM #2 -'Thirteenth Annual Federal Government Paperwork Management
Awards
Forty-four persons received recognition for significant contributions
to improved efficiencies and reduced costs in Federal paperwork. The
highest award--the Award of Excellence went to:

Certificate of Noteworthy Achievement, to bepresented by agencies. The
awards are sponsored by the Administrative Management Society. In a
November 3, 1977 message to persons attending the presentation luncheon,

ITEM #3 ~Iilliam'A. Jum Memorial Awards
Nominations are being solicited for this award, sponsored by the
William A. Jump Memorial Foundation, which recognizes outstanding -
service in administration and notable contributions to the efficiency
.and quality of the public service. The deadline for receipt of nomi-
nations is March 1, 1978. Information may be obtained from Noah Engel-
berg, Secretary-Treasurer, 447-7741.
ITEM #4 -- EnvirornnentaZ Protection Agepy 7th Annual Honor Awards Ceremony
Sixty individuals were recognized for outstanding contributions to the
protection of public health and the betterment of our Nation's environment
at EPA's December 16, 1977 ceremony. One Distinguished Career Award,
six Gold Medals for Exceptional Service, and five Public Health Service
Meritorious Service Medals, were given. Of these, one Gold and three
Silver medals went to groups. Among those recognized were six minority
recipients, including five women.

ITEM #5 - U.S. Civil Service Commission's Ninety-fifth Anniversary
Awards Ceremony
The Commissioner's Award for Distinguished Service was granted, posthumously
to Patricia J. Thoben in recognition for her leadership in furthering the
equal rights of the handicapped, and to the Federal Personnel Management
Project Group (120 persons from various departments and agencies as well
as the private sector) "for leading and accomplishing the most fundamental
and comprehensive review of Federal personnel management reform." Four
Special Citations for Distinguished Citizens also were presented, and ten
Supervisor's Awards.
