1. This memorandum submits for your signature a letter and a
document nominating for the sixth annual
Federal Woman's Award.

2. The attached letter from Mrs. Katie Louchheim, Chairman of the
Board of Trustees, invites the Agency to nominate candidates for the
1966 Federal Woman's Award. The previous recipients of these awards
have been outstanding women whose careers represent remarkable achieve-
ments in domestic or international fields of Government service.

Deputy Director for Intelligence as a candidate for the 1966 Woman's
Award and the Honor and Merit Awards Board recommended that she be
selected as the Agency's candidate this year.
4+. The document nominating was prepared by a represen-
tative of the Office of Current Intelligence and a member of this Office.
Due to security considerations and the sensitivity of the Vietnam situa-
tion, we could not elaborate on the specific achievements of our candidate.
For this reason it is recommended that you suggest that a representative
of the Agency brief the Board of Trustees for the Federal Woman's Award
if they desire more information concerning her achievements.
5. The nominating documents have been reviewed and concurred in
by on behalf of the Deputy Director for Intelli-
gence, and by a representative of the Office of Security. The closing
date for receipt of nominations is 26 October 1965.
