4. (U) DCI Comments
The Director of Security took a few minutes to relate
comments made by the Director with respect to recent
publicity concerning the resignations of several key Agency
officials. The DCI has issued the following statement:
"The Director of Central Intelligence
confirms that the Deputy Director of Central
Intelligence, Mr. E. Henry Knoche, submitted
his resignation to the President on 5 July,
to be effective on 1 August 1977. The
President has not yet nominated a successor.
There are no plans for forced retirements or
removals of any top CIA officials. There are
no plans for major changes in the CIA organiza-
tion at this time."

5. (C) Industrial Polygraph Program
Subject to OGC concurrence, the DCI has approved,
on a pilot basis, the implementation of an Industrial
Polygraph Program. A final decision by 0GC with regard
to the establishment of this program is anticipated in
the near future.
6. (U/AIUO) SMAG Morale Survey
The Deputy Director of Security recommended that
all employees read the recently published SMAG Morale
Survey. The meaningful information presented therein
and the unusual high rate of returns point to a very

7. (U) "60 Minutes"
The CBS '!60 Minutes" program containing a segment
devoted to the Agency is scheduled for broadcast on
24 July.
