On 11 December 1979 the Director of Central Intelligence
honored Mr. Gambino, as Director of Security, by awarding
him the Distinguished Intelligence Medal in recognition of
his outstanding service to the Agency since August 1975.
In the awards ceremony, the DCI commended Mr. Gambino for
his managerial skills, strong leadership, and deep dedication
to duty. In accepting the award, Mr. Gambino expressed his
