The strength loss of rayon cord yarns is influenced by
the yarn geometry, yarn construction as well as spin-
ning and testing conditions. In a given rayon yarn the
individual nlaments do root remain In determined con-
centric layers but wander through many layers. A
uniform tension distribution is not always assured for
it depends on rnany conditions. As the coefficient of
friction decreases so should the strength loss for the
