Exchange reactions.
It was established by the example of tetradecanols, that
the liquid-phase oxidation process of htipber secondary
alcohols by molecular oxygen, enriched with the heavy
isotope 018. In accompanied by an oxygen isotope ex-
chnge beween the reaction products - ketow and
water. The exchange rate is slower than the reaction
rate, leading to oxygen exchange. Process of sec.

oxygen of oxidant. It was shows, that in Hquid-phase
oxidation cif secondary alcohols the intermediate
product - hydrotybydroperoxide (or Its radical) - is
decomposed with formation of ketones and without
rupture of 0-0 bond In peroxide bridge. An experl-
mentally based scheme of the oxidation mechanism of
secondary alcohol* to ketones was proposed, covering
the oxidation conditions in liquid- and also In gaseous
