The influence of the oscillations of the velocity in a
liquid jet and the density of the medium surrounding
a cylindrical jet, on the disintegration of the jet, is
considered theoretically. The meLhod of small per-
turbations beginning with the velocity potential
equation is used. The following conclusions were
derived: (a) during the oscillations of the velocity of
a liquid jet the character and the length of the waves
of the unstable perturbations are subject to change
and there appears a great number of separate
