One-dimensional diffraction on the X-ray diagrams of
celluloge fibres was studied. T'he cause of one-dimen-
sional diffraction is a statistical thrivrsion of the
centres of chains In the equatorial Plane (4 -2) and a

deviation of chains from their proper course along the
&xis (, 2). There are no Irregular regions as regardi

the arrangement of the chains and their IAks In the
umture of celfulose. 'T'he Saone groups of chains are-

responsible for both one-dimensional diffraction and
