MEMORANDUM FOR: Assistant Deputy Director for Support
SUBJECT Emergency Power for Agency Headquarters
Facilities
REFERENCE Memo dtd 26 April 1966 to D/L fr ADD/S,
same subject
1. This memorandum is for your information only and
is a periodic progress report as requested in reference.
2. We continue to await approval from Mr. LaPrade,
VEPCO Systems Engineer in Richmond, of the scheme of
operation proposed by Mr. Suter (General Electric Company
Engineer) for the 2-2000 KW emergency generators in the
main powerhouse. Although Mr. Suter's proposal has been
carefully reviewed and discussed by engineers of this
office and is generally acceptable to us, it is imperative
that we have VEPCO's approval before we can proceed. We
will continue to press Mr. LaPrade for his approval.
3. Much preliminary study and analysis of require-
ments must be accomplished by our electrical engineers
before we are prepared to discuss procedures and make
recommendations to the Office of Communications. This
is particularly true since we have been alerted to
planned use of computerized systems in the Headquarters
Signal Center which will require not only construction,
but substantial increases in power and air conditioning
requirements.
4. We will pursue this matter diligently and
continue to keep you currently advised.
