The Fine Arts Commission suggested these switches be painted to match the walls and I was concerned whether this would reduce the effectiveness to arcing. Mr. Blake should have a report by the first part of next week. Draw a line across colum jfter each comrt mt.) Attached is the lat(?'st informa? tion on the lightswitch problem. V e have asked GSA to replace the Arr )w-- Hart switches and install the Bakel to face plates. As a result of the me st- ing described in the attached corre s- pondence, the representative of th( GSA Protection Divisioi believes to e switches will not have to be replac >d if we cease using cleansing sprays. He does support, as does the Arro v- Hart representative, irstalling the Bikelite face plates. Y le are now awaiting the final posit: on of GSA F nd will keep you advised. 2-3: While I shdre"yc=ar cone that we really cannot ~ olerate another accident with light switches, I do believe that we would find it difficult 1:o ,justify action which is not sus `ported by the electricians. Perhaps one further cautionary letter to GSA would encourage them to take one more look at the problem. Neither they nor the manufacture: will ever issue a guar.i.ntee no matter how much we would like them to.
