MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Chain Bridge Traffic
16 August 1968
25X1 Today I met with Mr. Meloon, and others concerning
a re-review of the Chain Bridge traffic situation. After thoroughly reviewing
the initial and subsequent proposals it was noted that there is no logical solution
to this problem which is acceptable to the principal parties concerned (Virginia
State Highways, Trowbridge, et al and the public) within reasonable cost
expectations. Any effort at improvement will cause extensive traffic difficulties
and delays way out of proportion to the present difficulties and this could continue
for six months to a year. Accordingly, I asked Logistics to prepare for me
a paper citing these problems and I will submit this to the Director.
