REFERENCE : Memo dtd 23 Jul 68 to D/L fr DD/S, Subject: Conversation
with Mr. L. E. Brett, Jr., Resident Engineer, Virginia
Department of Highways, Concerning Chain Bridge
1. This memorandum is for information only.
2. The various studies made by the engineers of this Office have indicated that
all of the proposed solutions to subject problem, with the exception of access denial
to Glebe Road, are not cost-effective solutions (i. e. , the proposals were excessively
expensive, did not provide either immediate or long-range relief, or were some un-
satisfactory combination of the two extremes).
3. Accordingly, I concur in your intention stated in the referenced memorandum
to drop further proceedings on this matter.
