T R DD/S 71-4395 1.8 NOV 1971 SUBJECT: Post Course Discussion with Midcareer Students On 8 November I met with the Support Directorate "students" in the last Midcareer Course. A number of points came out. a. The AEC presentation could have been better. Our people seem to feel that AEC might be better represented by a different speaker. Our students also thought that Mr. Bostain was tops in his presentation. b. A second point was that our students wondered why the course itself might not be extended to compensate in an instance such as theirs where two holidays occurred during the course and they lost therefore two days of information. c. They believed the grid to be properly placed. They pointed out that there were relatively few students in the course who actually had supervisory responsibilities. d. The wives reception is a real plus. e. For specific OTR action if agreed, the students should be better prepared for their individual presentations and this is somethingdn which our people feel that OTR should be insistent. They also did agree with the idea that students might start working on their individual preparations before the course begins while they have access to source data in their own components. The final recommendation would be that the individuals check out with their component F~ d?! ftj 8's ye Approved For Releas `' Ci** 6 84-00780R004400060006-4 ~asc!aes~nxatlas Approved For Release 2003/02/27 : CIA-RDP84-00780R004400060006-4 $0 REY, chiefs if there is to be a presentation by such a chief to be sure that individual presentations dovetail with the component chief presentation. f. They felt that the DD/S format is preferable to that used by DD/P or DD/I. They also feel that CS was not well represented either at the management level or the student level. g. The OMS panel of five our people felt was too large and that it would be better to come down to two or possible three. Spoke to Chief, Mid(areer Course, who is at this week with the class--he said Mr. Dinunno's presentation: - - was good for a first effort in the Agency - - speaker very professional as a briefer - - Midcareer Course wants to have him back; random sampling of students did voice on negative side -- little too much PR approach -- could have pitched subject matter a bit higher for this class. A week from this Friday, on November 5, student critiques will be in-- STAT kill advise further when he has the critiques. Approved For Release 2003/02/27 : CIA-RDP84-0078OR004400060006-4
