an ODP Computer Facility - 8 June 1979

1. Mr. Johnson opened the meeting by saying that his
original concern in calling the meeting had changed from one
of interfacing SAFE to existing ODP computer centers and
services to one of integrating SAFE into the fabric of ODP
operations. After reviewing some of the history of SAFE's
project organization and management charter, the group felt
that there had been enough changes and progress in the SAFE
project to reevaluate the relationship between the SAFE PMO
and the rest of ODP.
2. to find
out what support facilities and personnel would be required
for the SAFE Center and then to quantify how much could be
saved if this Center used a hardware and system software
architecture which was common to existing OD:P centers. Mr.
Johnson said this was a responsive approach to the question.

3. After lengthy discussion, agreement was reached
that at least conceptually SAFE would be treated as another
major ODP service, integrated into the fabric of ODP just as
GIMS and VM have been. As a practical first step, Mr. Johnson
asked that a direct dialog on SAFE's relationship to other
ODP s rvices be initiated between CSPO, in the person of Mr.
