SUBJECT Request to Provide Assistance to the FBI

2. Description of Assistance:
Documentation and sample JCL listings for various unclas-
sified Generalized Information System (GINS) software packages.
This information will assist the FBI in effectively using the
GIMS modules already delivered to them (see STATINTL
attached copies of FBI request and proposed response).
3. Location of Assistance:
The information requested will be mailed or hand de-
livered at a GIMS Users Group Meeting.
4. Components Involved: GINS Division, ODP
5. Basis for Activity:
Normal cooperation between Government: agencies as en-
couraged by the "Brooks" bill. CIA has gained considerable
experience with this software, over the years, and the FBI
is just beginning to use this software package.

Dear Karen:
This letter is to confirm our conversations with
you and regarding source modules and documentation
for various load modules as shown on attached list.
We would appreciate any documentation on these
modules and, if possible, the associated source modules. We
are ready to provide the number of magnetic tapes required
for obtaining source modules associated with the attached
list.
Pat O'Halloran, who is our primary system software
person, also requested that I determine if you had a cross-
referenced listing of all modules used by the online system.
Since we know very little about how the GIM-II software works,
this would enable us to know how modules are referenced by other
modules. If such a listing exists, we would be very appreciative
of a copy of it also.

referenced listing, if available, may be mailed to the follow-
