The Office of Data Processing requests approval to provide the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with the assistance outlined below. a. Description of Activity: Technical advice con- cerning CIA ss experience with the Tape Management System (TMS), a collection of computer programs for managing magnetic tapes in a computer center. NOAA in Suitland, Maryland, is considering TMS for its computer center. Mr. Sylvester E. Walker has contacted ODP's computer specialists and asked for a briefing on our experience with TMS. b. Location of Assistance: CIA Headquarters Building. c. Organization Involved: Office of Data Processing. d. Basis for Activity: The "Brook's Bill", P.L. 89-306, encourages executive agencies to share and exchange information related to data processing technology. CIA is probably the only government agency in the Wash- ington, D.C. area with practical experience with the Tape Management System operating in a computer center configured similar to NOAA. Financial Costs: None, other than personnel time spent in providing technical information. f.
