Approved For Re? se 2003/12/18: CIA-RDP84-00933ROQ9600090028-0 '),o 77 a>!'_ / 9-r 9 February 1981 STAT NFAC ADP Control Officer STAT STAT SUBJECT: Furniture for Pilot SAFE 1. Keith Hall of 0B was given an excellent demonstration in the SAFE test lab by SAS/OCR, of the SAFE systems furniture and of the problems in using the Delta Data 7260 terminal on non-systems furniture. fie was also shown the crowded conditions of the OPA branch which was one of the three NFAC branches 'selected some months ago to participate in Pilot SAFE. Attendees of at least -part of the above were Mr. Hall 2. Mr. Hall expressed appreciation of the problems in not using systems furniture for SAFE. He was told that, due to delays in obtaining systems furniture, we were reprioritizing the three Pilot SAFE branches and installing Pilot SAFE first and without systems furniture in the OSvR branch designated for Pilot SAFE. The OS1%1Z branch (vice the OER and OS?tiR branches) was the only one of the three selected branches which clearly has adequate space for non-systems furniture. His help was solicited in gaining 0'.B approval for systems furniture for Pilot SAFE (and large SAFE). 3. Mr. Hall proposed that Pilot SAFE be "50/50", half systems furniture and half non-systems furniture. Ile said that he wanted to have available a study based upon Pilot SAFE, addressing non-systems furniture vs. systems furniture (considering both space and human factors) available to him before he received the CIA's future large request for systems furniture for large SAFE. He was informed that such a study would be made available to him, and that the Office of Medical Services had already been workin with SAS/OCR in studying SAFE human factors considerations.
