In this morning`s briefing icif the Vice] Presi-
dent, one additional topic for "informal"
discussion at tomorrow's-SSG meeting was
raised -- arms sales to T1aiwan. He asked
specifically:
1. Has. Taiwan formally asked us,,for
F5-E fighters?
2. If so, are they pressing the request?
3. Are there other fighters short of the
F5-E that would satisfy Taiwan and
also not disrupt our relations with
China?
A briefing note on these questions will be
ready for you tomorrow morning.
