I just received a call from Eagleburger's office to inform me that the session with senior House leaders will occur some time on Tuesday. The session with the Senate leaders is still scheduled for 1400 on Friday. 2. Briefing of the elder statesmen. I have attached a list of the individuals scheduled to be at the briefing at 1400 today. Those who cannot attend today, including Harold Brown, have asked if they could receive a separate briefing, either on Friday of this week or some time mid-week next week. It seems to me that our response to additional briefings, particularly as late as next week, should be influenced by the prospective utility. Please advise me whether we should have State proceed in setting up any additional briefings. 3. I was also informed that 14 members of the PFIAB will be present this afternoon. I. have added their names to the attached list. 4. Finally, Under Secretary Buckley has asked if he could receive the briefing at some point, not necessarily by either of you but perhaps by our briefing team. I told him that I would seek out an answer in principle and get back to him. Again, we have to consider the enormous burden on our people and on you two. I do not know how important it is to have Buckley briefed on this information. Please advise me.
