I briefly discussed the results of the Defense Bill with Jim this
morning. 'Ham informed me that he had gotten word we may try to put STAT
back in furl Committee. Therefore, he, Addabbo and Robinson were fully
prepared to defend their position. Further, he said we could really get
ourselves in trouble if we attempt to bring up the amendment on the House
floor. At this point we should concentrate on working the conferees. They,
have not been officially announced. MX will be a political battle but the
bill should pass.
