SUMMARY: 'Ms. Arens requested -"letters the Soviets have sent to President Reagan"
concerning their views on the Israeli Invasion of Lebanon.
I explained to her that even if we were to have copies of such letters
here at CIA and I was not aware of any such letters, any release would have to
come from the White House, not CIA..
She then asked whether we had any information-in our files concerning
how.the Soviets view this subject, aside from the White House exchange. Again,
I said I was unaware-of what information was available on-this -subject and suggested
that the Committee send us a. letter stating what information they are seeking.
I gave her name and address to use. .
