Medical Services, chaired a meeting of the Mensuration Standards Group,
Terrestrial Information Exchange Panel, on 3 December. The meeting was sponsored
by the Naval Intelligence Support Center, Suitland, Maryland, for the purpose of
defining the Reconnaissance Community's training needs in photogrammetry through

i. Three representatives from the Language School, Office of. Training
and Education, and'a psychometrician from the Psychological Services Division,
Office of Medical Services, attended a .National Conference on Language Proficiency
at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey 30 November - 1 December- The
conference defined national proficiency test needs in both government and academia
and allocated responsibility for test development among the Defense Language
Institute, Foreign Service Institute; National Security A ency, and.CLk_ The -
keynote of the conference was the cooperation between the government agencies and
the national foreign language professional organizations. The Language School's
contribution was particularly evident in oral tester training, reading test
development, and test analysis through the ORTEST computer progra;-n a project
under development by the Office of Data Processing -which, -krill, w:'he plemented,25X1
k. During 26 -. 29 November, representatives of -the Language School
.attended the -American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages ' conference
in Denver where they participated in a presentation on Government Ora
Proficiency.Testingthe presentation was enthusiastically received..
