MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration
FROM Bruce T. Johnson
Director, Office of Data Processing
SUBJECT VM Availability
1. Our statistics show average VM availability at the
96.59% level since the beginning of 1981. Specifically:
Monthly Average - January - March 95.61
Monthly Average - April - June 97.19
July 94.79
August 99.49
Monthly Average - January - August 96.59
2. Perhaps Mr. McMahon's concern is with the Projected
availability of VM to his people being relocated
If experience is used as the model, VM
availability in outbuildings is much less than at Headquarters
due to the continuing problems we have h the COMTEN that
provides line distribution at Page. At we will be using a
statistical multiplexer instead of a COMTEN, and OC is optimistic
about our ability to keep the link open. Needless to say, we are
committed to providing reliable service to customers
